How much does a seller owe on a property ?

Is there a way I can find out how much the seller paid for his/her property? Or is it possible to find out how much a seller currently owes on a mortgage ?

All mortgages are recorded with the county recorders office. In Miami-Dade we can search online by property address or owner. You can review the executed mortgage document and punch the terms into a mortgage calculator and get what they SHOULD owe to date.

The amount paid may or may  not be listed on the deed.  In some states the information will be available via the appraisers office.  To find the current balance on the mortgage you'd really have to get that from the seller.  The mortgage will be recorded in the land records and it will have the initial amount of the loan.  However, it will not provide a current balance.  Sometimes, if a property is going to foreclosure the banks will record a new document that will state what the outstanding balance is with all of the add'l interest and fees.

Call the seller and perform the Reverse Psychology technique.   In California I just use Property Radar.

In Texas, the sale price of a house is considered private information.  It is not available on the assessor's site.  They do provide a valuation for tax purposes which might indicate value, similar to a zestimate.  Buyer beware of the assessor site.

I would think that is public access off your property appraisers web site. Where I live, all sales are public knowledge and can be viewed on the appraisers web site. Also, your public records search for mortgage and deed documents will also have this information.
