Is there room in Houston?

Question

I moved to Houston in June. My plan was to begin looking for properties in a year, but now I'm getting antsy. I'm ready to jump in. My excitement quickly turned to worries because Houston has soooo many competing investors. I know the area is huge, but does it have room for me?

@Shanequa J. - I cannot agree with @Duncan Taylor  more.  Formulate your goals and plan on how to get there.  From there, you need to take some action and do not let anything stop you.  If you run into issues or have questions, ask for help.  You may be surprised - what you thought was the "competition" could very well become your biggest support group.  See you in February.

Always remember, if you are really serious about this, you are not competing with anyone but yourself. There is always more room in any market.

Statistics have shown less than 1% of those who claim to be a real estate investor ever do enough to actually make it happen.

Don't look over your shoulder. Don't worry about anyone else in your market.

Lay out your goals, formulate your plan to achieve those goals, then work your plan and adjust as needed as you learn more.

Consider Specialized or Niche Housing like student rentals or vacation housing rents can be 2-4 times more.

Hi there.  I'm investing in the Houston metro and would recommend starting with A properties since you are a newbie.  Too many newbie's start with C and D, then get burned out when they have a bad experience.  I'd be glad to point you to what I'm doing so you can check it out.  PM me if wish.
