Local REIA's
Of the two local REIAs in my area, the only one I went to so far, was a "see how I did this, and pay me this much, and I will show you too" type thing. It was confusing how the meeting was, at least for me who had never been to a "meeting" before so I did not know what to expect. I kept hearing about a closed doors members only lunch meeting. It was 2PM and I had nothing to eat yet, was beginning to get a headache and feel cranky from what little I had eaten at b'fast, (I got there at 8:30) so I left at about 2:30. I may have missed the actual meeting. Then again I was not a member anyway.... Since I had not paid my membership dues which was to entitle me to be mentored, or maybe just find a mentor, not sure.... I will visit again next month to confirm. I have to call to ask a question or two just to find out what the deal is. Otherwise it seems like a club, although it was called an "academy".. I was told it was separate from the REIA, but to my new eyes, I could not tell....
The second local REIA, I have not gone to a meeting yet, it will meet this Tuesday coming up, (3rd Tuesday of every month) but looking through the website of the REIA, ( maybe it was a link?) there is a guy spouting the same thing, pay me this, and I will show you that...
So the question is, how many of these local REIA's run like this? Seems like everybody wants to be a guru who has done well at the head of these groups. Sorry to sound cynical, I typically don't like coming off that way, but I have been to the national guru "shows" and have been left wanting.
Next time when a snack is offered, I will jump on it, too bad they ran out, I might have been able to hang in there otherwise, but I did not want to miss anything that was being said.
