ListSource mining BP profiles?

Question

We recently got an (unsolicited) email from a wholesaler in our area saying he got our email address from a list of cash buyer investors that he purchased and asking if we wanted to stay on his buyers list. To the best of our knowledge, we had never met him before, and the email address he contacted us through is not one that we have given out much. It is listed in our BP profile though.

We weren't necessarily opposed to being on his buyer's list since we are looking for deals in the area, but were curious how he got our email address. So, we asked him, and he said it was on a list of cash buyers that he bought from ListSource.

Not sure how we ended up on one of their lists, so we're wondering if maybe they are mining BP profiles.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Thanks for the reponse, @Joshua Dorkin. I wasn't trying to imply that BP would sell members' info. You guys are way too classy for that.

I was just pondering if it was possible for the info to be mined somehow by someone who created a member account. But it sounds like that shouldn't really be possible. Guess we must have gotten on the list some other way.

We absolutely do NOT sell email addresses of our members and our PRO users can NOT see your email address.  The ONLY way someone can get access to your email address through our site is to befriend you and become your colleague, which requires mutual acceptance from both parties.

Yes, I have been contacted by several wholesalers by phone and by email. I also only remember providing such information only here on BP. Apparently BP does make such information available to PRO members I believe. Its no biggy I just take it as  part of going along with the BP community.
