notifications won't go away

For some reason the notification alert at the top of the page won't clear after I read whatever the notification is about. This has been going on for a couple of days. Right now I have none notifications for votes, mentions, and keywords, all of which I've read.

It looks like you have an unread mention.  Once you view a mention (you can find it by hovering over your profile picture found on the top right) that alert will remove its self. 

That said, I'll make the alert less distracting in the near future.
