Guaranteed Contractor Pricing? Would you do it?

Jorge Roman
Posted

Hey guys so I recently talked to a company that pitched me the following but I'm not sure if everyone else thinks it's a good program?

They have a subscription where it's $35/month for the first home then $10 a home I manage after that with a max 10 homes (which is fine I'm only managing 2).

they are offering me:

1) They will be fielding and troubleshooting all of my maintenance calls 24/7

2) Guaranteeing $50/hour handyman w/ $50 minimum visit charge.

3) $85/hour for all other trades w/ $125 minimum visit charge.

They mention that if a bill ever comes in for over that rate they will pay me back directly, also that the pricing is not guaranteed for emergency after-hour calls. I think that makes sense so far.

I was actually referred to them before so I know the company has been around a while, but I'm not sure if this program seems worth it! Ideas?

Hi Jorge,

If it were me I'd:

  • Ask for 5 (yes 5) referral phone numbers of clients they have had for 3 or more years.
  • Call each of them and ask about the service they receive and if they think it's worth it.
  • Ask each phone call person the address of their rentals, and go visit them to see what they look like.

It's always a good idea to Vet contractors visually as well as verbally.

Good Luck!
