How to restart

Question

I just moved to a new city, Miami, for family reason and I'm having to restart my career all over again. Previously I lived in Texas and have been a general contractor for over 6 years. Would like some good advice on how to get a jump start in getting my name out there and building a business back up from scratch. Essentially how to find new business. Before the majority of my clientele were referrals. Thank you

Like Nat mentioned, everything here is word of mouth from previous people you have worked and dealt with frequently and have a good track record. The South Florida / Miami market is tough & crowded, but there is money to be made here! Contact me if you have any questions.

I will tell you the best way to build business in Miami is word of mouth. The place is overflowing with investors as well as dishonest contractors. I have never met so many scamming contractors in my life as I have here. People ask me for a referral to a good handyman or builder all the time and unfortunately I can't give any as most have done shit work and stolen stuff from me.

Sorry but craigslist advertising is not the way to go. Craigslist is synonymous with the bottom of the barrel crew. The last hire I did off there, they were smoking marijuana on the job and stole my tools.

Thank you Char and Christopher for the valuable advice. I never considered targeting property management companies and even though I had thought about using craigslist I think going door to door and introducing myself to at least the people in my neighborhood would be very beneficial. Thank you!
