buyers agent

Should I use a buyers agent for purchasing properties such as homepath, MLS etc...and should I use the same agent to sale my properties...or use a sellers agent?

Also I believe I read on the Internet that a buyers agent would be of no cost to me...so does that mean if I purchase a property that agent doesn't receive a commission from me?
