Illinois Architect New to the BiggerPockets Team
Hello to all BiggerPockets members,
I wanted to post an introduction as I am new to the BiggerPockets Team. My name is Samuel Pavlovcik and I am a NCARB certified licensed Architect; currently licensed in Illinois, Indiana, and Texas, and I am based out of Chicago, IL.
I have specialized in residential construction (New construction and remodeling) over the past 6 years, and plan to embark into the real estate investment world in the near future. I have realized that my personal experiences working directly with developers as well as individual private clients; in addition to my experience working with a design and build firm has provided me a unique field of knowledge that I believe will help me in my future endeavors, as well as giving me the opportunity to help others in my community as I continue to network and prepare to dive into the work of real estate investment.
I currently manage my own Licensed Design Firm in Illinois (Pavlovcik Architecture Inc.) which has specialized in residential construction (New construction and remodeling) over the past 6 years. My architectural firm has been dedicated to providing efficient, cost-effective designs over the past 3 years on over 250 residential projects throughout Chicagoland.
I wanted to reach out to the BiggerPockets community to let anyone (especially in the Chicagoland area) know that they can feel free to reach out if they have any Architectural questions in hopes to assist others with their future developments, rehabs, and investments.
Wishing you all the best in your endeavors. I am hoping to learn a lot from this forum and so far have seen some great conversations.
Sincerely,
- Samuel Pavlovcik, ALA, NCARB

Thanks all for the warm welcome,
@Alan Dunlap since Governor Pritzker has deemed construction as an Essential Service I have been fortunate to not have much slowdown in the industry. We have adapted to work nearly 100% remotely with few exceptions. From my experience this far all building departments are remaining open and are each enacting their own methods to promote Social Distancing. Many are now accepting permit applications and drawings via email, some require you to schedule a meeting/drop-off. I have also heard from a few contractors that inspections are being held Virtually using video calls or sending photos of the work.
Its pretty amazing to see how creative people are to find ways to adapt, but I. The end I have to say, the industry has been pretty fortunate to be able to continue with minimal impact. I have seen some HOAs setting restrictions for not allowing new construction to begin unless approved by the HOA and being deemed as "essential". Everything else we can pretty much determine to be "essential" even if only in the fact that it is keeping people employed! as long as the clients want to proceed...
