Assistant Property Manager

Zachary Boren
Posted

Hello Everyone,

I want to begin by saying thank you to everyone that takes the time to reply to this post. I recently moved to Indianapolis and am in search of an Assistant Property Manager position. The reason I am searching for this type of job is so that I can begin to get some hands-on experience in real estate while also being paid. However, the problem I face is that I have no experience in property management. Do any of you have any advice on how to begin a career in this field without having any previous experience? Or are there any positions that are more entry level-like than asst. property manager that could help me work my way up to this?

Although I unfortunately don't have a background in the field, I can detail the sort of background and experiences I do have. I graduated from a small liberal arts college for men (Wabash College) in Crawfordsville, IN with a double major in English Literature and Fine Art. I've been a server at a brewery (Old Bakery Beer Co. - Alton, IL) , a delivery Driver for Jimmy John's (JJ - Alton, IL), a photographer and editor for a startup art magazine (Warm Soda Magazine - St. Louis, MO), and a General Manager of a Planet Fitness (PF - Brownsburg, IN).

I know my background probably doesn't strike employers as an ideal one for the job, but do you all have any recommendations on how I might go about getting them to seriously consider me? Also, I very new to Bigger Pockets. If there are any free real estate meetups in Indy that any of you know about, do ya mind telling me about them? I would love to meet some people and talk in person. Thanks for listening to me.

Best,

Zachary T. Boren
