Getting back into Wholesale Investing

Hey all, my name is Brandon Heflin. I started (well, attempted) wholesaling back in October of 2018 after seeing a ************* ad on Youtube and I bought his course and it acted as a door into the wholesale investing world. I tried for a few months to secure my first deal and I couldn't make anything happen, mainly because I was intimidated of cold calling potential leads. So now, months later, I want to ask some experienced professionals of the industry, 

How can I get back into it? What's the best way to go about wholesaling from a beginning perspective?

What should my first move be? Should I work on my credit to secure a loan in order to have some capital to work with or can I start with nothing like most of the gurus claim? 

What is the reality of wholesaling? Because it sounds too east on paper, but in reality, it's more complicated than it seems. 

I know my question has a wide spectrum of potential answers, but I would appreciate if someone could just give me some pointers.
