Real Estate Investment Beginners

I would like to begin learning about real estate investments, I’m not trying to spend $30,000 on a guru, what would be the best suggestions for someone just starting out? What are some of the best books to read and how did some of you find a mentor along the way?

The How to Invest in Real Estate book is a great place to start if you're a total beginner. The BiggerPockets podcast and many others are great as well, since you'll learn what others are doing. I also highly recommend that newbies get out and start networking immediately.

Find local Real Estate Meetups in your area on Meetup.com and the BiggerPockets events section, and go to as many as possible. Pick the events you like and become a regular. Talk to the experienced attendees and ask them about how they started, what they're doing now, etc. You can get a lot of free or very cheap advice by just talking to experienced people around you, taking them to coffee, stuff like that.

People are super friendly and helpful in the real estate industry, generally speaking.
