Just Starting: New to BP & REI

Hello BP! My name is Elita and as the title suggests, I'm new.

I'm a single mom to an AWESOMELY autistic 16 year old. I've had one heck of a life but I want to teach my son that he can overcome anything and create the life he wants. As we all know, no one is going to just give you an awesome life. You have to go out and create one for yourself. Well, at least most of use do anyway.

I've been interested in REI for years (sigh, I'm 34 🤦) and I've put off everything I've ever wanted to do in order to play the safe bet. And I've always put everyone else's needs/wants before my own. As a result of always playing the safe bet and putting everyone else first I've struggled with living paycheck to paycheck and just barely making ends meet as a self employed individual. Somehow I've managed to put a little something into an IRA over the past couple years but it's nothing to write home about. Only a couple thousand.

I was one of those individuals that out it off because I didn't have the money. To be honest, I still don't but I'm willing to use creative financing to get started.

Over the past couple months I've been reading, watching and listening to everything I can about REI and I've honed into what I want to do. I want to own small MFR and SFR properties and I want to primarily grow my portfolio using the BRRRR method though I'll start out with house hacking.

I'm scared as all get out that I'll fail and I'm not 100% certain exactly what first steps to take but I'm starting somewhere. Also, I'm a huge introvert with serious anxiety issues which only magnifies my fear of failure. And you know what, odds are I will fail at times, but I'll keep going until my failures become successes.

Well, I've rambled enough.

Happy investing and see you around the forums!
