Should you own a home or just rentals?

Hello All,

Currently, all the properties I own are currently rentals while 1 is being rebuilt via insurance due to being destroyed by fire. I currently rent a room as my original plan was to move back into the fire house once its rebuilt, but its taking forever so I'm curious if I should own a primary residence at all? My stay at the current place is nearing its end and I'm unsure if it's smarter to buy another primary residence and house hack or just buy another rental with the cash I have saved up and find something else to rent.

@William Huston, I believe you are the only one that can answer this question that relates to your goals/plans. What I would do is going to be lined up with my goals and aspirations. I suggest you return to your 1, 5, and 10 year goals; unless you don't possess them, then do that first. And then figure out what it's going to take to get there, and this should help you answer your own question. Good luck!
