Flipping for a hobby or passtime

Have it done Right, done Cheap, or done Fast. Pick two. I have always believed that saying since high school and I am wondering if anyone has the same outlook?

I have come to the conclusion that I might not be able to get my wife on board so I might be doing the RE investing alone. I want to insulate her from the business so I have thought I want to find something cheap enough that I can have it paid off from the beginning or have super low payments so I can take care of it with just a little over time. I am thinking total junk house and taking my time to just fix it up slowly and as best as I can without spending much money.

Has anyone out there just played around with something simple and cheap to just learn and have fun? If so, do you think it could be possible to buy low enough around Orem or Provo in Utah?
