Aloha from Oahu's Newbie!

If a person went around town claiming they were an Architect and all they have done is read a book on the topic; Then proceeded on promising people they can design their dream home, it would come off very disrespectful to those who have put their life into the profession. So why do it in RE investing?

Aloha to all of the hands in Real Estate, my name is Dominique Turner, and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to the bigger pockets community.

We are all very busy so I'll give a compressed intro. I am a graduate from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor's in Architecture, and have spent the last 3 years working for Oahu's WATG firm. Over the years I have worked on a multitude of projects around the world from hotels in Doha Qatar to eco resorts on the Palau islands. I bring that up to say, from my experience and understanding of what it takes to be an architect, the top paragraph's scenario came across my mind.

Now, how would the professionals react?

The answer is most Architects first and foremost would call BS really fast. But the clients who don't know the difference may trust said person and could really get screwed over by inexperience. I would tell the person if they truly had a passion to be in Architecture, either go to school, or find an Architect and work under them so that you earn your place.

And with that philosophy I decided that paired with my daily 5:30 am readings- the daily bigger pockets podcast- and so on that respecting those in the business is the only way I want to go.

It may be answered upon our meeting. After all, the relationship will make out break us!

There is no worse feeling than when you have been taken advantage of or are betrayed. I want to know how I can REALLY help people through real estate.
