Hello, My name is Jake and I have been interested in Real Estate Investment for over 10 years but have not taken the leap of faith to get started. I recently found out that the Manufacturing company that i work for currently will be shutting its doors at the end of July 2017. They are offering a good severance package and a separation bonus as well if you decide to stay with the company til it closes. I figure this is the perfect opportunity to take that leap of faith. I am in a unique situation though and i will explain. My wife's father passed away early last year and they were very close. Naturally it has been very tough for her emotionally but she is doing a fantastic job at moving on. Long story short, she received an inheritance and also some IRA accounts so, we have a little bit of money for a cushion and to invest. I have heard enough horror stories on dealing with rental properties from other investors and my own parents that i do not want to go down that road unless a fool proof plan was laid out for me by an experienced investor. My focus and passion is more along the subject of flipping houses. I have some craftsmen skills and my wife has great design ideas. We own a home currently and we are renovating it one room at a time ourselves. We already have a great deal of equity in the home but it is "home" to my family and we are not looking to sell it. I want to get into the business of flipping houses but i really do not know where to start. I am finding a lot of scam type programs where you have to buy a book and pay for a mentor or investment program to get any help. I have also read things on this site that state to stay away from such programs. If anyone in this community is legitimately making money and has good advice, please help direct me down the right path. Thank you for your attention and I also really appreciate any wise words of wisdom.
