Get started in real estate by moving and renting out home?

Hello,

I'm a newbie who is considering getting started in real estate investing, specifically buy and hold rental properties for the cash flow.

Here's my question: Is it a good idea to begin real estate investing by moving to a different home we'd like to live in, and renting out our current home rather than selling it?

We think we'd like to move out of our current home in the next few years anyway, so I'm wondering if that would be a good way to start out.

Thanks to anyone who can provide some advice or experience they've had with this!

-Dan
