cost of construction in Oakland/Berkeley hills

I am considering buying a lot in Oakland Hills, close to my home. The lot is quite steep, downhill, I have seen other homes built right around it on similar terrain, I was trying to get an estimate of the cost of construction in the area, plan is to build a 3000 sq ft SFH. I am sure there is something extra they have to do in the foundation to get it level first.

I am sure some of the experts on BP have experience and/or knowledge about my question.

Also if you have some contractor recommendations, that will be great.

Thanks all.

It used to be you could build for $100/sqft on flat land and about $200-300/sqft on a slope...but inflation and also skyrocketing prices in the Bay Area have doubled/tripled that.

I am getting quotes now to build on flat land of $200-250/sqft. If it's a quite steep slope, you should budget $400-500/sqft, depending on finishes.

Also, almost every contractor is slammed right now so they aren't dying to give discounts.
