20 Year Old College Junior, Finance Degree, Where do I start?

Hello All,

I am currently an undergraduate at Stonehill College perusing a finance degree and I wanted to ask some people with experience where to start in this business. I have aspirations to be very successful. Last summer I worked between 100 and 110 hours a week with 4 different jobs so when I hear that people "have to" work 60 hours a week when you first start off in order to be successful, I know I have what it takes. I have taken a number of economics and finance classes and excelled in all of them. I understand how markets work and the basic accounting principles of real estate too.

I am asking for any advice that anyone may have on this matter. Where do I begin?

Should I work on getting my real estate license in Massachusetts?

Should I try to participate in a summer internship?

Should I try to jump into the real estate business now? Is that possible while finishing up my degree?

Thank you to anyone that can lend advice,

Howell Conant

Learn how to analyze real estate deals. You can find out here on BP. Then analyze 10 deals a day, every day. This will lead to many questions which you can then investigate. It will also teach you skills which you can then use to help people here on BP. Do this often enough and you'll start building relationships with here. It'll snowball from there.
