Update
I wanted to take some time to update the community on some of my progress. My main goal over the last 2 months has been to try and gain as much knowledge as possible and begin networking in my community. With the help of the BP community/podcasts etc I've been able to do that. I've also been reading A LOT. Miracle Morning, Rich Dad, Brandon's Investing w/ no money down and so on...
First I reached out to a local house flipper in my area. I simply sent an email and asked if we could connect for a beer/coffee. He was more than willing to do so. In fact, he invited me over to one of their latest flips, walked me through the house and answered any question I had. It was very cool to see this... The best part of this is he gave me an opportunity to bring him deals if I found any in his particular area. He told me what he was looking for... and said if I found a deal for him and he closed it he'd pay me $1,000+ depending on how good of a deal it was... Then, I immediately went home, got online, identified about 10 properties that fit his criteria using zillow and sent them over. He made an offer on TWO of the properties that I sent over... neither of which were accepted (I'm told). So, even though neither of these offers were accepted, it felt great to know that I at least showed this buyer what he was looking for and brought value to his business. I realize that there are much better ways I could have done this (especially if I truly did identify a good deal). However, The beauty of where I am at right now is I am stupid/naive enough to do ANYTHING. I took action and I feel really good about that.
I am looking to network with anyone in North Carolina or South Carolina. I currently live in the Wilmington area but lived in the Raleigh area for several years and know it well. I also spend a lot of time in Raleigh and Charlotte for my job. In particular, I'd love to connect with any wholesalers in these areas.
I have a few other things that I am working on and look forward to sharing this with everyone. I will continue to make updates to the community as I work towards my first RE deal. if anyone is at a similar stage in figuring this all out, please share your thoughts. Likewise for anyone who has recently got started or even has serious experience.
Cheers!
