Flipping or Rentals

I am just starting in property for investments I am pulling 100k cash to do either a purchase flip or a rental possibly 2. A lot of people I have been communicating with have advised to go toward rentals. I know in regards to taxes rentals have write offs where flips can obtain a lot of taxes. I am just starting off and will be working my job still while investing until I am able to comfortably become independent. Thoughts ?
