Contractor Damages Neighbors Property

Contractors damaged property on both sides our house (city) during a roof tearoff. The one house is vacant, but up for sale, and the other is minor. How are these things normally handled.

I am more worried about the vacant house because the damage will be discovered sometime down he road (dented siding)

What should I do? Is it the contractors problem to deal with 100%?
