Advice on Sheriff sales

I'm going to my first Sheriff's sale next week just to see how things are run. But before I go I want to do my homework as if I were going to purchase a property.

So my question is does anyone here have any experience with Sheriff sales? If so what all do I need to do before the sale actually occurs to be prepared for it?

What I have done so far is identified about 5 properties from the sale that are close to me that I want to do full homework on.

I'm going to go to the assessment office and check out all the legal records on the properties (look for seconds, liens, etc...)

I'm also going to do drive buys of the properties to see what they look like.

Is there anything else I should be doing prior to going to a sheriff's sale?

Thanks,

-Michael
