Best Place to Start?

Hi, I'm a 23 year old ambitious male graduating college in a few months. I have been reading up on real estate investing for the past 3 years (on and off) and feel now is the best time to start taking it more seriously. My ultimate goal is to own enough apartment buildings/units/passive income to quit my job and focus full time on REI. If you could give me any advice on what area of real estate investing i should focus on, what to avoid, places to further educate myself, ect. that would be a great help!

*As of right now, i'm thinking abut moving to the Carolinas and using an FHA loan to buy a quadplex (fourplex). I plan to use the FHA loan to renovate any issues and to update the building as needed. I would rent out 3 units and live in the fourth one rent free. Now, if this is a good starting place for me, how would i proceed from there? How would i get to my goal of owning multiple apartment complexes? could someone walk me through this?..

If it helps, my financial goal is around $300,000 a year, or $25,000 monthly of passive income.
