First time investor looking in CT

Ryan Healy
Posted

Hi BP Forums,

I've been laying the groundwork in terms of learning about REI and the important steps for finding the right deal and now I'm looking to buy my first property as a buy and hold (or BRRRR). I live in NYC but grew up in CT so I am very familiar with the Fairfield County area. However, that does not seem like the best area to invest given the premium home prices and less active rental market. Although, I've considered the outskirts of Bridgeport. Otherwise, I have looked into New Haven given the presence of universities and hospitals, MetroNorth access to NYC, as well as some other factors.

Probably looking for something in the range of $250K purchase price (2-3BR/2BA) that will at least not be cashflow negative to start. Any advice or opinions on New Haven as a target for REI would be appreciated. Also, if anyone has advice on connecting with an investor-friendly agent in that area that could help.

Thanks,
Ryan
