Starting Out - Completely New to All Things Real Estate
These are some of the first steps I'm taking to dip my feet into the waters of real estate investing education. I'm interested in buying a house, being a landlord and renting property to a tenet. I have no experience at the moment. My partner and I are both interested in educating ourselves about real estate and taking action together towards potentially owning a house that we can rent out to start out. I have no idea if this is a good starting point or not. What would be helpful for me to know, research, investigate for myself, and have a good understanding of in order to gain more clarity around owning/buying a house. We have potential buying support that we can leverage to buy a house/mortgage, but we don't know anything about being landlords, renting out the property, etc. Our goal is financial independence and this being a stepping stone towards understanding more of how to do create that for ourselves. Any guidance would be amazing. Our time line looks like this, FYI:
We want to move out of our current place and do one of the following by August/September 2023: Buy a house, find individuals to rent it out to, live there for way cheaper, and save money while going through the process of learning what it takes to land lord and rent a property to tenants. OR, move out of our current place and rent for the next year until we gain some momentum together and then consider this plan/or something similar in one year.
Thank you for any support you can offer.
