Hey guys, I'm 20 years old, and from a small town in Nebraska. My parents owned a fourplex growing up that was located in Lincoln.  I would do some of the management duties such as cleaning the unit/prepping the unit for a new tenant.  I have experience in light renovations, to kitchen and bathroom remodels.  I now work as cabinet maker for my dad's shop.   Now that you know a little about me, I've always been interested real estate, and I want to have my cash working for me. I have over $50k cash saved that I've set aside for real estate. If I would get into real estate, I've been looking at buying a SF home in need of a full gut job in Lincoln area.  I'm currently renting and working the weekend shift at work.  On my off days, I would do the entire job myself because I don't think I'd have enough money have a contractor do the work.  I would like to have hands on experience with the process as well. The house I buy would be my first home that I would own, and I would plan on having a roommate living in one of the bedrooms to hopefully allow me to have no housing expense.  Does this sound like it's doable?  I don't know how much cheap fixer uppers are going for in Lincoln.  I doubt I could buy and complete the entire renovation with the $50k.  So, I'll probably work on it as I am able to save cash.  Just needing some direction on how to start. Thanks!
