If you have not seen the release of Dan Sheeks' new book, "First to a Million", grab it ASAP! He is going to be doing an Ask Me Anything Night in the forums next month that you will not want to miss!
In light of this release, I thought we could share the bit of advice we wish we had as a teen or young adult. This could be to yourself, your children or extended family, or any young person in your life. Share your knowledge for our young FIRE and RE members!
I'm still young but I would still say I wish I got into RE much sooner. Find ways to grow your knowledge before your 20 then find ways to purchase properties with OPM or your cash.

The situation of your parents is not your own. You can escape and will but you cant take your siblings with you. They have to find their own way and will but it will take longer than you think. Buy as much of those bitcoins as you can (I didnt because I have a rule that if you dont fully understand something you cant buy it and that includes industries your investing in..... they were $3 each when i transitioned out of the service and literally had my mouse over a buy button to purchase 333 of them ($1000) and closed the computer instead..... ahhhhhh
LEARN SALES, instead of working at a fast food restaurant in high school sell stuff and work on commission during the summers! SALES SALES SALES
agreed I started with Fuller brush ( which the younger folks on this site wont know what that is) door to door would make more in 3 hours one evening then a full week at the gas pumps !!
First job was D2D setting solar panel sales appointments, best decision ever
You are who you hang around! It's that simple. When you hang around people who always shoot down your ideas instead of helping you accomplish them then you're probably around the wrong crowd. It's interesting how most successful people are always talking about "how" to get things done vs. saying they "can't" be done.
2. Don't worry about kindness and "doing the right thing" being taken as a weakness. In 2022 it's a super power.
3. Grit, hard work, persistence goes much farther in life than you think. Just keep at it.
4. Get a mentor and surround yourself around those who are further down the path you want to be.
5. Fail forward & pivot.
6. Growth comes out of comfort zones.
7. Buy as much real estate as you can as often as you can. It will always feel expensive at the moment but you are buying and holding. It will appreciate far more than you can imagine at the time you purchase.
8. Set time aside for self improvement. Read and work out everyday.
Only buy rentals in good areas that appreciate don't go after the cheap easy ones. Most important have NO DEBT. Meaning pay off your car and property AS FAST as you can. No debt much more freedom you don't need a million to be really retired when everything paid off. Do everything/every adventure you want to do NOW because the older you get the more responsibilities you get, the less time, and more excuses. Also don't get pets especially a dog until you are married with kids and ready to settle down lol. Cash is king. There's nothing wrong with hoarding all your cash in a bank account waiting for the right deal that will retire you until your death. That being said good luck!

@Account Closed whew sir--you nailed it. The battle someone will have with ones self is the toughest battle of all.... Removing self limiting thought is a lifetime struggle. Parents are soooooo crucial in that. In the absence of solid parental examples the young person needs to locate MENTORS to fill the gap and sponge all the knowledge, skills, attitude and perspective as they can absorb... I served for 2 years at the 19th ASOS on Fort Campbell, KY with a guy named David Goggins--google him... Navy SEAL, Joe Rogan favorite interview, best selling author,... No self limiting thought there... Just the endless Jihad against ones self and ones desire to be comfortable and passive. At the same time... I served with another guy who has amassed a fortune over 100,000,000 now... All 3 of us were enlisted. David is Black, I am white, and Leo is hispanic... No reasons to fail... Just excuses in my opinion as hope is free and not paying attention is expensive. We can all "afford" to "pay" attention.
