I don't recommend doing that, unless you want the same headaches dealing with short-term and extended stay guests as landlords have with tenants when it comes time to remove them from the property. 

So the loan would be a short term way to free up my equity.

You need to take into account your long term goals, your short term goals, your resources especially finances, and your risk tolerance.

Hi @Carrie HallenslebenStrategy wise, I would recommend against "borrowing short" to "invest long."

I am interested in short and long term investments as I wish to retire from my current job ( driver for UPS), within the next 5 yrs.
