This topic is for a friend of mine.They signed a lease for a property and expected to move in, in 8 days.

My advice is to learn as much as you can about a wide variety of related topics: real estate, construction, maintenance, investing, finance, law, business, sales, marketing, etc.  

Since my post I used the search function and found several forms on the topic, and will continue due diligence.
