One was in high school Speech class.  

Building was almost an acre under-roof and 25 feet to the bottom of the roof trusses. 

Plus, traditional building methods HAVE EVOLVED in the past century: trusses, gluelams, advanced framing techniques, and Zip systems just to name a few.

regardless, his speech was somewhat motivating, even to the nearly "unmotivatable" like me.  

I am sure doing this in CA, NJ, IL etc. would have horrible things like fines, confiscation of house, possibly jail or even worse being required to go to all political speeches given for 30 days. 

The house was designed and plans drawn for a hand stacked roof system and when they trussed the roof many things were overlooked.

We were just trying to get him to continue working because we had waited at that time over 2 months for trusses.

We have been building with I-Joists and trussed roof systems for at least 20 years and there are many areas in the United States that still use 2x10 for joists and hand frame every roof.My take is that modular construction will never gain a substantial market share. 

@Anthony Theokary An engineer or experienced contractor would be advisable, but typically…..a wall running perpendicular to the joist/trusses will be load bearing, a wall running parallel to the roof joist/trusses would not be.As for your roof pitch, 12-14” over 22’ is a very mild pitch (20:1), unless this is a “flat” roof.
