This is what Buffett did in 2007 before the crash...but easier said than done.Also, it would be foolish to hold a stock until you achieve an arbitrary sell price target if other more favorable opportunities exist in real estate.Another thing to consider: You may not need to sell your stock to put the money to work in real estate.

There are people here who believe that 2% is not achieve-able in any neighborhoods where they want to own properties, there is even some consensus that at 2% you have a pure-cash-flow investment with any appreciation as an added bonus.

You seem to be shooting for surviving in your adult life to an extent when you should be looking more to a higher level of achievement.

The truth is, we have a long journey ahead of us but if done correctly, you will eventually achieve your goal.

I am four years from retirement and the desire to build residual income is very important to me and I will do whatever is needed to (that is legal and moral) in order to achieve this.

There could be a whole book on that subject but the short answer is when the property achieves its investment objective.

If so, what are they hoping to achieve??

I cannot continue to fear mistakes, because then I will never achieve success.
