It's just like inflation- Let's exclude food and energy from the calculation, two of the most important figures that affect all americans.  

Bottled water, canned food, and bullets may end up being the most valuable commodities.If there is inflation, you will be thankful that you have a 30 year fixed mortgage.

I mean are the bulk of the Wholesalers making at least minimum wage for their efforts (like a fast food job would pay; 2,000 hours a year x min wage), or is it less; or is it way more?

My religion has always counseled its members to have a minimum of six months reserve in food, water, and cash.

Not to mention I just didn't feel comfortable doing it.As of right now I make around $2,000 a month after I cover all my overhead for the business, and that $2,000 has towards my monthly bills (Rent, Gas, Electric, Water, Food, etc..)

The historical data of epic financial ruin following even very savvy people who invested in housing, food, tools, clothing, heavy equipment, technical services, a few unmentionables, etc for oil field boom events is truly legendary. 

The city also adds orthophospahte, a common food additive, to coat the pipes from the inside. 

Food deliveries, rideshare during big drinking days/concerts/sporting events/airport runs, shop for grocery items, etc...Most folks overestimate what they can earn in a day hustling and underestimate what they can earn in a year.
