If it's unwired it will literally take me under 2 minutes to drill two small holes in the wall, place the detector and then use my drill to screw in two screws to hold it up.

We are looking at a house that is behind a military base, after doing some search I see that noise is a big issue when living close to active training sites, we also came across what looks like 2 bullet holes in the back window that faces directly behind the base.

The simplest kind to install is the mechanical spring-wound kind; it has two terminals, just like a regular toggle switch, and it fits the same mounting holes as a regular toggle switch.
