This property is less than a mile from my house and is mostly in need of cosmetics. 

After a little sleuthing in the county records it looks like it's owned by an older couple who live about 40 miles away, he (I assume it's him) comes a couple of times a year with someone (not the same person twice) to help him wack down weeds in the yard and he occasionally takes a box of junk out of the house, while the back yard is full of old junk cars.

Hello, I recently found a great property in North Carolina very close to the Hickory Grove area just outside Charlotte.

But I can tell you my experiences with a few bad ones to avoid in Jacksonville:Tony L Usry - He has a new rap sheet a mile long, but he is a short white dude that scams people out of money saying he can fix things, but he cannot.

I've been looking for a house in the general Tampa area give or take 30 miles.

I live in Jacksonville, North Carolina; however, I currently drive throughout the US for a large transportation company as a truck-driver.Since I am rarely in a single location for more than a day at a time, Investing is challenging. 

Look further out - I think places like Mebane, Graham or Burlington are well within commuting distance to RTP (as well as Greensboro) and will be taking off (to the extent that haven't already...)Raleigh burbs (especially to the South, but also North and East) will explode further once the "outer loop" is done (See @Chris Martin 's recent posts regarding I-540)
