Theres a lot of work to get developers to pay more attention to the areas and the people their project will effect, and I'm all for pushing for that, but just labeling them all as greedy and careless does nothing to improve anyone's lives.

The only exceptions are markets like Austin in which the dealers have enough demand from credit-worthy customers that they will rent the vacant lots from you (almost like spec homes) in the belief that they can get a customer.The bottom line is don't think that vacant lots = no demand.

If the powers that be don't deem you worthy of cross selling, then you will just get the same deal that every other Joe off the street gets, they might however sweeten the pot a little bit if you agree to move your checking/savings account business to them.This all goes back to what Wells Fargo got in trouble for not too long ago: "Each customer should have eight accounts with us." 2nd mortgages are basically the free sample of crack to get you visiting their street corner.
