I find hit highly unlikely that teenage / early 20's me would have been sitting around reading books on accounting or statistical analysis if left to my own devices.That said, no degree is going to GUARANTEE you success, but what it CAN do is tilt the odds just a bit more in your favor.

In the US we have an organization called Junior Achievement which tried to teach pre-teens and teenagers about business and money.

It was a neighbor's teenage kid who came twice till his mower broke, and the kid's dad blamed our lawn. 

It was a single mom and her teenage sons who lived in the house.

When your teenager lives in your basement, that is 1 HH and your family consumes one housing unit.

Later we find out the 2 BR unit would be for not only her and the child but additionally a husband, and two teenagers. 

I have two teenage boys that spend their life on these sites and it is difficult to even have a true conversation with them that involves eye-contact.
