After not getting responses to schedule an inspection, I smelled smoke outside the door and went in to investigate.

 ran into a kid at Home Depot this morning with 45 smoke/co detectors in his cart, so I guessed he was a LL.

He had smoke detectors in all rental houses.

I try to do the easy value add myself and outsource anything that takes more than an hourthe “turnkey” work included:patching walls from nail and hook hole,cleaning out some trashadding smoke detectors to bring it up to fire codedeep cleaning and scrubbingdealing with building inspectorupdating some electric outlets and replacing outlet coverstouch up paint workand I had a contractor replace some carpet with vinyl plank flooring.given I could only work about 4 hours a week it ended up taking me close to a month to get it ready for rent.

Whether it’s to check the smoke detector or to clean the dryer vent.

(missing smoke detectors is one reason why I hate smokers!)

There's no "prongs" lol.More than likely smoke alarms will have to be hardwired on a dedicated circuit with an interlocking wire.When the panel is upgraded a main building ground will be required under article 250 of NEC.

They also provide notes, like the house smelled of cigarette smoke.

I like traveling to Mexico more now, but I’ll probably just rent whenever we go there (unless I come across my dream property for a smoking deal of course).  

If you really want new investors to learn you would post the real story instead of smoke and mirrors.
