When can do this in Texas and I hope you can in your state.We send an email, text and letter to the tenant giving them a date we will post this information on the front door for a 3 day quit. 

Closing date set for December 29!

1)the owners of the property received their money2)they requested 10 more days and we gave them benefit of the doubt3)when we visited them 4 days before the move-out date, it seems like their not moving...would appreciate your feedback

Am I required by law to ask the tenant by a certain date?

I stumbled upon this article, written by a tax attorney, in a respected tax magazine https://www.thetaxadviser.com/...It implies that the 3-yr window on amending your tax returns and claiming a refund starts on the day you actually filed your initial return and NOT on the extended due date.
