If you have creative talent, go to work for a real estate photography company, so you can make good money, get in a lot of houses, start learning the market. 

That will include assisting with getting the property prepared to go to market, arranging photography, marketing the property, holding open houses and showings, then of course overseeing the lengthy disclosure/escrow/closing process.

I have a friend who is starting to get back into real estate photography after taking some time off.

All properties are on target to 2x rents and have upside for the investor willing to add value (amenities, decor refresh, updated photography).

But it does then require furniture/staging, photography, supplies and the management.

If I were a photographer, I'd contact each of the agents with the crappy pics and tell them you can shoot the house for $x to show them that professional photography sells houses faster. 

This is a great option for Rentals and or when presenting a property to potential investors.If it's for a home you are Selling or Reselling, professional photography is always the best choice.
