I can sympathize, trust me.The Ricoh and your T5i have the same nominal cropped sensor, the APS-C, so we start by figuring out that the Ricoh has the 23.5x15.6mm version while the T5i has the Canon version, 22x14.8mm.

@Jerry Davis All of the above options are great and probably easier but another option is have your mom put it in a land trust and name you the beneficiary.

Also, it may be fairly easy for me to do because my dad is a licensed full time general contractor and has been for 20+ years, so I'll feel a bit better trusting him with the project (and getting my hands dirty as well) rather than trusting some slimy third party contractor.

I would recommend having a lawyer do it but in my case, there is not a personI trust more in this world so we skipped it.
