I can't think of any better way for young people with limited resources to prepare for their future so early on in life with so little cash out-of-pocket.

I assume that this would be more for city life such as SF, NY, LA where you can find lots of condos that are still selling.  

The real estate pie is big enough for everyone and its important to look at the business (and life) from a perspective of abundance, not lack.  

If they are retired, at that point in their life they may not be looking for the highest return on investment, but may just want simplicity.
