Douglas,do not be intimidated by this, best thing for you to do, if the floor is the major project, is to decide what material you would like to install ( tile, hardwood, laminate flooring, sheet vinyl ) that will determine how much work is involved. i would ask around at lumber yard, local hardware store or neighbors and friends who they would recommend. you call a couple of contractors ( some may not be interested do to the size of the job) and ask them to come over to give you a price for the work.

That job is way beyond the scope of a handyman and would get some more quotes from plumbers and fix the leak asap.You will need the handyman to patch the trench left by the plumbers and lay some new laminate

With us we closed up every single hole we could find, did some roof work to block openings in edge of tiles and put in a new garage door because the old one had space on the sides that was allowing them to enter.
