Seems like in the grand scheme 10k for the damages is not that big a deal.

I would talk to green designates realtors, investors, lenders and builders that are familiar with green investing and green building to get the most accurate and informative opinion because they most likely have done this themselves and can speak from experience or are familiar with folks that have. 

There are industry standard tests designed and performed by ASTM to insure consistency in performance.
