The city was a bit too tricky for me although I really like Canton, upper fells point and butcher hills because it was close to Johns Hopkins and the turnkey home arent too bad, i was thinking to rent out to traveling nurses there.

There's no PMI either (however the VA funding fee is essentially all of the PMI paid upfront).You can also do a VA 203k loan to buy a fixer upper for $0 down.

My plan, or at least what I was thinking, was to find a fixer-upper in a nice neighborhood and rehab it so that it appraises for more than what i initially bought for, thus giving me some equity.
