I realize that some stocks offer dividends but unless you have a large chunk of money to throw down and time to wait for the dividends to come in then it is much harder to do as real estate loans are easy to get.Also real estate is a very easily scalable business where you can choose how much you would like to be involved or not depending on your life style.

Many neighborhoods have restrictions in terms of the size and style of home that can be built in that community.

Beaumont I have heard has a hot market despite the northward trend to Lumberton.  

I have noticed a trend of what seem to be good deals in the Dorchester area but do not know much about it. 

For the future I am interested in info about the possibility of moving the majority of those funds into a "check book" style of Self Directed fund, and agree with you all completely that I need a pro to help me set this up.
