Prevents any issues coming up later when you want to sell the property or when the county sends drones through your neighborhood looking for unpermitted pools/decks/carports, etc to try to raise revenue to cover unfunded liabilities in government spending. ;-)

I’m not sure how versed you are in doing taxes so Do your taxes yourself and give them to a few CPAs  to review and if nothing is better or if changes are made you will have a clear answer and it shouldn’t be that expensive.

I see so many room illegal additions/conversions where the homeowner spends a lot of money on the project, but when they sell the appraiser assigns it no value because the square footage is unpermitted.
