Throw a label on there that tells them what their drinking in case they like it.

We found our metal survey markers with a metal detector and was able to determined that our retaining wall belonged to us.

it does seem that the deposit technically does not belong to the seller, it is the tenants until such time as they vacate and then (assuming the property is in good condition) would be returned to them.  

There can still be long runway and you hold...or maybe you exit.  

If they had insurance there belongings would have been covered and there liability coverage would have helped the cost of repairs.
