Maybe, maybe, if they are a handyman, you'd allow them to buy materials and take the exact price out of their rent.

The good news is that the repairs were very affordable being that the materials are very affordable. 

I've reached the point where I can't even look at a late-model sports car being driven on the street and not laugh.

Without a report, you can't materially request credit for repairs, but I was always able to request a Price Reduction. 

Expect to pay 75-125 a door and I'd avoid the 1500+ rents as they'll be harder to identify and lock down..But again, just to give you an idea flooring is about 2-3 bucks a sqft to install plus material.

They will likely charge you markup on materials and a hefty hourly rate and trip charge.
